K9 Nose Work® NW2 Skill-Building Clinics ~ August 8-9th, 2015
with Kimberly Buchanan CNWI

The two days of hands-on K9 Nose Work® clinics are designed to introduce dog/handler teams to NW2 level searches and hides while keeping the game fun and motivating for the dogs.

Saturday's clinic will focus on Interior and Exterior element searches, and Sunday's clinic will focus on Container and Vehicle searches. Kim will offer personalized coaching to each team before, during and after their runs. All searches will be video'ed and shared with participants after the clinic for additional benefit. Search aspects and challenges new to the NW2 level that we may work on include:

* Multiple hide searches in all elements
* Intentional food and toy distractors in Container searches
* Container/Vehicle search strategy - patterns vs odor obedience, handler skills to prevent false alerts
* Searching up to 4 vehicles in Vehicle searches and 2 rooms in Interior searches
* Training for inaccessible hides without encouraging fringing on accessible hides
* Keeping track of hides found, managing time, and making the Finish call
* Converging odors
